There are many situations where the solution to your needs may be to consider entering into a short or long-term partnership.

Taking in a Partner

Are you a pharmacy proprietor who would like to be able to spend more time with your family and/or take longer holidays? Would you like the opportunity to work less hours or take on another interest outside your day-to-day business commitments? You may be considering selling your pharmacy (or even your current share in a partnership) but not really wanting to take that step for a few more years yet.

An incoming partner may initially buy 50% of the business and then, within an agreed period, purchase the other 50%. Alternatively, the incoming partner may initially buy 25% or 20% of the business and, each year, over the next four or five years increase their share of the business. With this structure in place, the partners can share the time managing the business equally or the incoming partner may want to work more hours to earn more salary.

Buying into a Partnership

Are you considering buying a pharmacy but perhaps you don’t have the funds to buy the type of business that meets your requirements? You may want to own a business but feel under capitalised for the business you would like or would prefer more experience before taking that big step.

Do you want to increase your business management knowledge and learn from an experienced business owner? Maybe entering into a partnership would be the most suitable method for you. With a lower capital outlay, you can obtain a share of a significant business. You may start with a smaller percentage and gradually increase your proportion of ownership over a set period of time. Establishing partnerships, as an alternative to buying a business alone or wholly selling out of a business, is increasing.
